History of Namibia
The Nama people settled in southern Namibia around the 1st century B.C., relying on livestock they bred. In the 17th century, the Herero, pastoral nomads from East Africa, migrated into Namibia, initially settling in Kaokoland before spreading into Damaraland by the mid-19th century.
However, this mandate was fiercely contested by South Africa. Subsequently, Namibia’s path to independence was marked by the South West Africa People’s Organisation’s resistance and international legal actions, culminating in independence on March 21, 1990. Dr. Sam Nujoma became Namibia’s first president.

The guides will explain different facets of the Ovaherero people including their belief system and customs, initiation ceremonies, marriage, economic system, construction of houses. Guests are encouraged to touch, feel, and taste during the tour, as well as ask questions to the villagers and guides. The tour then moves to the Museum, which boasts permanent exhibitions of cultural artifacts, history, and statues.
At the Craft Market, there are approximately 38 craft stalls from rural communities, ethnic groups and projects that sell Namibian handicraft here, which range from jewelry to carved tree roots.
Experience the adrenaline rush of seeing some of the world’s most notorious apex predators up close in Naankuse nature reserve in Namibia. Home to lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, hyenas, baboons, leopards, and more. The nature reserve is also a place where these animals are taken when rescued from harm. Learn about their behaviors and habitats, and get involved helping with feeding time.
